MOST: Meaningful Open Schooling Connects Schools To Communities

2020 - 2023
Proyecto

Descripción

MOST project supports school students and citizens in developing science knowledge, transversal skills and competencies in working scientifically. In order to ensure learning impact on the students, it is highly important that the SCP activities are aimed at achieving competency goals. In this section we suggest a framework containing some principles that support teachers in formulating possible learning outcome of their SCP projects.

The partnerships will be initialized through School-Community-Projects (SCP) and bring together schools and diverse community stakeholders, e.g. local, non-formal science education providers, environmentally engaged start-ups, SMEs and large enterprises, families, policy makers, civil society organizations and the wider society (explicitly including groups such as elders, people with disabilities, different socio-economic or cultural backgrounds) to jointly work on environmental, societal challenges.

In each of the 10 partner regions (AU, CY, CZ, DE, LT, MT, NO, ES, SE, TY), schools of all educational levels and community members can apply for participation. In two subsequent project rounds participants will first work on the topic “waste management (in our community)” and second “energy saving (in our community)” and elaborate the topics in the context of science education with the help of diverse community stakeholders. To give an example, we have a closer look at the topic “waste management”. One question may be how to reduce the amount of packaging when buying food.
